Uses for a Cordless Power Drill
Equipping your first tool chest can be confusing not knowing exactly what will be needed; a cordless power drill,
however, is a must have tool for anyone. Years may go by before having the need for a wrench, but hardly a month
can go by without a use for a power drill presenting itself.
Our homes and offices are filled with connectors; screws, nails, hinges and more. Doors, tables, cabinets, the very
walls around us bear evidence of the need for drills. Holes drilled for the insertion of screws, dowels or anchors
secure our homes around us; pictures decorate the walls with hangers screwed into the surface; door hinges allow
them to swing to and fro. Indeed, a look around any room in the house or office would reveal numerous applications
that require the use of a cordless power drill.
Most people feel that their homes are works in progress. Even in newly built homes, there is always some type of
remodeling projects or additions that are being planned, either indoors or outdoors. Having a cordless drill makes
any type of project easier, with its portability allowing it to be used anywhere. Installing a protective fence
around the yard can be difficult if long extension electrical cords need to be strewn about in order for the
electric drill to be used at the far end of the yard. Putting up your child’s swing set, complete with a wooden
fort and fireman’s pole, can prove to be quite a feat as well when an electric drill is utilized. These are all
applications where using a cordless power drill will excel.
Cordless drills generally have dual battery packs; one operating the drill as the other battery charges in the
charging unit. Lagging power and weaker torque will indicate the need to change the battery. Light in weight, the
cordless drills are easy for anyone to operate. A wide variety of drill bits can be used to make the drill even
more versatile. Drill bits can be designed to bore holes into wood, into metals and to rotate screws into position.
Disassembling a baby crib or similar furniture item for storage? The drill can be placed in reverse position to
remove screws as well, making the job much more efficient especially in the case of older items when screws may be
rusted in place.
There are many uses for the cordless power drill that
will make the tool be an invaluable addition to any tool chest.
